100 Games to Play or Gamble on in a Fantasy Setting

100 Games to Play or Gamble on in a Fantasy SettingIn fantasy settings, people will still play games, whether in taverns or other places, for fun or to game on.

This supplement has 100 different games that characters could play or encounter. Some are fairly ordinary; others require the use of magic.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

55. Mole Hunt: Mole hunt is a boardgame on a board very similar to that of a chessboard, and there are some similarities to chess and other related boardgames. Scattered around the board are various “moles” though not everything that looks like a mole is one. Players have to move their pieces around the board, investigating the apparent locations of the moles to see if they are them; those who find the most, win. Moles can change position and more can be added, and a false mole causes a penalty.

56. Monster Know: Originally a teaching game intended to help people recognise monster traits to identify what they are, now it’s also a guessing game in which something similar is done. Players are given cards with a monster and its behaviour and appearance traits on it, and have to, without speaking, try to describe these so that others can guess what it is.

57. One Shot: This card game sees each player dealt five cards, two face up and three hole cards. The players can look at their own hole cards, and only one deal is made. Players, however, bet on which player, other than themselves, they think will win the hand. This has to be judged on how good, or bad, they know their own hand is, and the quality of the hands of others, based on the two face up cards, though the view of other hands gives skilled players an idea as to a hand’s quality.
