Travelling through the hills of a fantasy setting is not free of incident; encounters can be had along the way.
This supplement has 100 encounters for hills that range from the useful to the odd to the potentially dangerous. They can be used to enliven a journey or as a source of potential adventure hooks.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
61. Standing on the peak of a hill is a simple stone tower. The top of the tower appears to be a viewing platform with a signal fire, suggesting (Science/Analytic (Logic) roll with +1) that this is a watchpoint more than a fortification.
62. Stone shacks dot the slopes of the hills, most now tumbledown, their roofs lost and the walls falling in on themselves (if searched, a couple are in good enough condition to provide shelter from adverse weather with an Outdoor (Strength) roll with +1).
63. Stretches of this hill’s side have been scorched clean of vegetation, the soil exposed now turned to glass in places (an Outdoor (Logic) roll shows this was done with extreme, unnatural heat).
