Even when travelling by river, whether by boat or other means, characters can still have encounters.

This supplement has 100 different encounters for river voyages. Some of them are innocuous whilst others range from the odd to the potentially dangerous. They can be used to enhance a river journey or possibly as adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

28. Backing onto the river is a smooth lawn of a large estate, with a manor house built some distance from the riverbank. Patrols of guards can be seen on the estate, who carefully watch anyone passing on the river (each patrol has three guards in it, and there are six patrols).

29. Beavers have built a dam across the river, which will need either portaging around or removing (which will take 5d6+10 minutes for two people) to pass by boat.

30. Birds dot the water’s surface, diving below for food. Many of them take flight as they are approached, only to return afterwards.
