This is a collection of ten events that could happen at sea that could be taken as a, probably bad, omen by a ship’s crew.

1. A flying fish leaps out of the water and is immediately caught and swallowed whole by a bird swooping down out of the sky.
2. A single flash of green light is seen on the horizon as the sun is almost completely hidden by the horizon.
3. All the ship’s masts suddenly snap.
4. An albatross falls from the sky and lands dead on the deck with a meaty thump.
5. Dead fish float up to the surface and bob on the waves.
6. Glowing bioluminescent lights can be seen swirling in the water, seemingly following the boat.
7. Pale crescents appear on both sides of the sun.
8. Rats boil up from below decks and run to the railings to throw themselves into the sea.
9. Seagulls fly overhead in a huge flock.
10. St. Elmo’s fire edges the masts and rigging.
