Characters may have encounters whilst travelling and this supplement has 100 such for forests.
The encounters may range from the odd to the potentially dangerous. They can be used to enliven a journey or be a source of potential adventure hooks.
This is a conversion of the original system neutral supplement for use with Black Spear. You do not need both supplements.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here re some sample results:
80. Trap – A leghold trap, possibly set to catch a bear, or a smaller one for a smaller animal, has been hidden under loose leaves here. A character who accidentally steps on it could get a nasty injury to their leg and be unable to move until released. (Make a Normal Perception skill roll to see the trap in time. If failed, make a Strenuous Athletic skill roll to avoid the trap; failure results in 1d10 points of damage.)
81. Tree – A couple of trees have become entwined here. It would seem that two saplings grew very close to each other and the trunks and branches are now entwined to such a degree that it’s hard to see where one tree ends and the other starts.
82. Tree – A fallen tree rests across the path here, partially blocking it. (The trail is blocked for mounts and vehicles until the tree is removed; other creatures must make an Easy Athletics skill roll to clamber over the trunk. Removing the fallen tree requires either 10d10 minutes to chop the tree up, assuming the characters have suitable tools – this is for one person, more people, if they have tools, reduce the time appropriately, so 10 minutes for one person is five minutes for two people – or an Extreme Strength skill roll; this can be a cumulative skill roll.)
