100 Encounters for Fantasy Mountains (SWADE)

100 Encounters for Fantasy Mountains (SWADE)

100 Encounters for Fantasy Mountains (SWADE)Mountains can be dangerous places to visit in and of themselves, with such as mud and rock slides, cold, freezing winds and the chance of falling from high up.

This supplement has 100 different encounters that can be used to enliven journeys through such regions. They can be used as background colour or as a source of potential adventure hooks. Some are potentially useful, others are potentially dangerous and some are odd.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

86. The mountain slope here is covered in fresh tree stumps, where all the trees have been logged away. Trails show where the logs were moved down the mountain, and the soil has become loose and friable, filling the air with dust. The absence of the trees is going to cause all the soil to come away soon, either by blowing away or by washing down the mountain in a storm.

87. The path here is bisected by a small stream that runs down the side of the mountain. The stream appears to have only recently cut through the path (make a Survival roll), suggesting that it has been diverted from its original course.

88. The rock’s face is riddled with many small holes. The holes resemble rabbit holes (make a Survival roll), if rabbits were capable of burrowing into rock.
