Taiga is cold land though not always arctic, mostly lowland and sometimes tundra. It’s lowland and often flat.
This supplement has 100 encounters suitable for such land that can be used to enliven a journey or as a source of potential adventure hooks.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
86. The taiga is unusually boggy here and travel is slowed through it. Checking the bog will reveal that it is at least several feet deep in places, and at times possibly more (Difficult Ground).
87. The trees here are clearly (make a Survival roll with +2) young and if undergrowth is cleared away (which takes 1d2+1 minutes) it can be discovered that this is because the older trees all perished in a fire, leaving a few charred stumps and logs behind. The undergrowth is also thicker, without the older trees to hide the sky (Difficult Ground).
88. The trees are all dying here, and if they are investigated (make a Survival roll) it can be found that this is because they have been infected with some kind of rot that is liquifying them from the inside out.
