This is a collection of 100 different rumours that can be used with the official Urth setting for Shadow of the Demon Lord. These rumours can be discovered by characters who are asking around for information.

Some of the rumours are truthful, some are false and some are distortions, although all can be adjust by the GameMaster as appropriate. They may be used as a source of background colour for characters inquiring about other matters, as a source of potential adventure hooks or as hooks to get characters to visit new locations.

To use the rumours, either roll d100 for a random result or select suitable ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

77. Tighten the grip on the peasants. Make them fearful and keep the Cult of the New God away. Make the peasants willing to deal with the cult themselves. Saves trouble later, even with the cult outlawed.

78. Too many laws. There’s no way they can be helping the country, I don’t care what the king says.

79. Trying to make peace with Drudge and the orcs in Caecras is pure idiocy. Yes, the orcs are very definitely a threat to Old Edene, but bowing to the threat will not improve matters. The Naysayers are likely only thinking of their own skins, and how peace will hopefully guarantee their protection, rather than what it would do to the country as a whole.
