The Taftâni of Mage: The Ascension are one of the oldest Crafts around and are members of the Disparate Alliance. This supplement has 100 Taftâni that could be encountered. Each is named and given a brief description. The Taftâni can be used for brief encounters or as potential sources of adventure hooks.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
92. Talha al-Arif: Talha is a Taftâni in Dubai who appears to be just another one of those who helps with the building of the city, a construction company owner who helps the city reach its new heights. In many ways, that’s just what they are, but they also weave magick into the buildings they work on, improving them, making the Taftâni stronghold safer and also having the potential to subtly influence those who use the buildings into believing in magick. Talha is just one Weaver, though, with one apprentice, so there are limits as to how much of this they can do.
93. Talia Mason: Modern Taftâni tend to use modern technology in order to keep in contact with each other, it being easier on the whole, but Talia is a Weaver who still prefers, when possible, to use the older ways of communicating, from crystal balls to spirit messengers. They believe that such are less vulnerable to Technocratic interception, as the Technocracy often regards such with contempt if they even think about them at all. So Talia continues to use the old ways and provide the means by which others can do the same if they want.
94. Udad Atallah: Udad believes that places such as Dubai are a good start, and what the Taftâni really need to do is become influential in countries again, as they were back when the Weavers were recruited by Sargon to build his empire. They believe that the Taftâni need to become movers and shakers again, powers in the land, albeit the power behind the throne rather than the visible face of such, and seek to use Dubai as a staging point to eventually take control of the Emirate of Dubai and then the United Arab Emirates as a whole.
