Characters may attempt to learn more about types of creatures that they may end up fighting, and there are many sources they might check, but not everything they learn is necessarily true. Here are ten bits of misinformation to learn about orcs.

  1. Orcs are not truly living beings, but are instead constructs made from flesh that impersonate living beings.
  2. Orcs are plants, as evidenced by their green skin, and they gain strength from sunlight just like plants do.
  3. Orcs are soulless monsters and killing them is of no more import than ending anything else lacking a soul.
  4. Orc bodies are made of some kind of strange matter that evaporates on their death.
  5. Orcs can be harmed by exposure to fresh water, which is why they are rarely clean.
  6. Orcs cannot sleep and this causes them to be insane by most definitions.
  7. Orcs don’t bear live young like most humanoids, instead laying eggs.
  8. Orcs not only dislike sunlight; their skin is harmed by in and long enough exposure will cause it to blister and burn.
  9. Orcs were created from elves who were warped and changed through foul magics.
  10. There are no female orcs, and orcs breed by splitting into two smaller orcs which grow to full maturity in a short time.
