Even for those living trudging, provincial lives, there’s still news to be shared and announcements to be made. From declarations of new births and wedding notices, to proclamations of taxes, Wanted posters and reminders about upcoming fairs and festivals, all of these things can be found on the local village noticeboard.

Of course, in the fantastical settings where our games usually take place, there might be even stranger things on these boards. You might find a dragonslayer seeking apprentices, calls for aid from the Westland Rangers, warnings about strange sights seen in the deep forest or an announcement for a year-end sale for inexpertly enchanted items from the arcane academy. Whether you want to use the following fliers, notices and announcements as mere backdrops for your game, or you want to sneak them in as subtle quest hooks for your players to investigate, that decision is up to you!

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

23. Funeral pyres are now required for disposed of the dead for all residents of town, as well as outlying steads and properties. This is meant to prevent the rising of corpses, which has proven to be an ongoing problem for our residents. Until the cause of the undead plague is uncovered and dealt with, this ordinance will be rigorously enforced. Volunteers who wish to assist in these duties are encouraged to contact the sheriff and inquire about being deputized.

24. Teleportations are currently banned from this location. Too many incidents have happened recently where these spells have gone inexplicably awry, and investigations are currently ongoing in an attempt to pinpoint the cause of this strange phenomenon, but there has been no word from the Anthaerum as of yet. As such, until further notice, please direct all teleportation attempts to the staging area assembled atop the Giant’s Stump. While we recognize this is an inconvenient distance away from town, there will be a regular coach service ensuring that travelers will be ferried to and from a safe location with minimal fuss.

25. Deputy positions with the sheriff’s office are currently open. The duties assigned, as well as the pay offered, will depend on the skill set of a given applicant. Preference will be shown to those capable of using magic. Those with outstanding warrants are encouraged to apply, and to explain their situation, as pardons could be made available in exchange for a term of service and an honorable discharge once one has paid the debt owed to the law.
