Adventuring might involve exploring large caves, but travelling through the wilderness can result in finding much smaller places.
This supplement has 100 caves, and similar shelters, that could be found when travelling. They may or may not be occupied, and may or may not be natural. They may provide shelter or be a source of danger or adventure hooks.
The supplement is also available in a Pathfinder version. You do not need both versions
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
81. The rock walls of this cave bear the signs of stonecutting, where blocks of different sizes have been cut away, leaving varying niches in the stone.
82. The roots of a massive tree form a tangled knot at its base, and there’s an opening just wide enough for a human-sized being to squeeze through. Once through, a small cave can be found underneath the tree, possibly formed when a root died.
83. The stench in this cave is appalling, as the floor is inches deep in guano, dead bats and beetles feeding off both. The ceiling is covered with bats, but if disturbed they don’t fly out of the main entrance but up through a chimney a couple of feet wide in the cave’s roof.
