100 Conspiracy Theories to Encounter

100 Conspiracy Theories to Encounter

100 Conspiracy Theories to EncounterThis supplement has 100 different conspiracy theories that can be used in appropriately themed modern campaigns. They cover a wide range, from the large to the small.

Whether or not any particular theory is true, or has elements of truth in it, is up to the GM. They can be used to misdirect players or perhaps as a source of adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

52. People are constantly bombarded with messages telling them to fear this thing or that group, which means that there are a lot of threats, real, imaginary or otherwise, out there to fear. This is because people in a constant state of fear are easier to manipulate, simply by promising to cut down on a source of fear, usually through draconian legislation that harms the one choosing it more than the supposed target.

53. People suffer constant pressure to “Keep up with the Joneses” whereby they need to constantly buy things they don’t truly need or want in order to maintain status in their peer group. These items are more often than not sold on or bought with credit. The pressure is deliberate; by making people feel peer pressure and a need to constantly buy new things, they can be constantly made to buy things and also ensure they never have any really surplus money.

54. People who lack money are continually being encouraged to buy more things, spend more money and live well beyond their means. Eventually, almost all of them run up so much debt they cannot keep going. This is intentional. They are being specifically targeted to make sure they keep spending and therefore always remain subject to the whims of others, as they never have any money of their own.
