When asking around, characters can hear all kinds of snippets and rumours.

This supplement has 100 such for a steampunk setting. They can be used as background flavour or as potential adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

17. A racing track is being built with the intention of using it to race specially-designed steam cars. Some workshops are already said to be working on their own models of steam cars, which are intended to be faster than anything else designed to date, and there appears to be some hope that the designs will transfer to steam cars that are used regularly.

18. A scientist claims to have discovered a way of enhancing the energy productive capabilities of coal, and that any coal treated using their method will provide much more power to a steam engine when it’s burned. There’s already rumoured to be a bidding war in progress to buy the process, though some are uncertain as to whether everything is aboveboard.

19. A scientist has been experimenting with making replacement parts for people out of clockwork. It’s said that the limbs manufactured in such a way have been proving a partial success, though there is a difficulty in getting them to merge properly with the body so that the person they have been fitted to can use them. The experiments with replacement organs are said to have been far less successful.
