100 Sights to See in a Steampunk City

100 Sights to See in a Steampunk City

100 Sights to See in a Steampunk CityCharacters who wander around a steampunk city should see all sorts of unusual sights, from steam powered contraptions to dirigibles floating above.

This supplement has 100 different such sights for them to encounter, from the strange to the wonderful. They can be used as background colour whilst in a city or as potential adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

18. Elizabeth Wong is hosting a lecture at the history museum, and there are fliers all over the city for it. Those who arrive find the lecture hall well-attended, and filled with an audience that’s roughly half men, and half women. Elizabeth herself stands at the lectern, dressed in the demure fashion of the day which contrasts with her fiery nature and unapologetic speech. Standing behind and to her side, like a pale shadow, is the looming form of her constant companion Cassidy. A mostly silent man as deadly as he is terse, none are certain of the two’s relationship, but speculation runs rampant among the gossip circles about how they met, and what sorts of adventures they’ve had that they aren’t sharing with the public.

19. On the roof of the public gallery is a powerful telescope that’s been aimed at the latest discovery of the Planetarius Institute. Though the distant nebula is beautiful, filled with the swirling gases and winking lights of a cosmic storm, many who look overlong through the lens say they feel strangely uncomfortable. When pressed they often compare the feeling to being watched… as if something were looking back down the barrel at them.

20. Karelis Khan, the famous illusionist, performs his most infamous tricks on the street throughout the city. With his dark skin, stentorian tones, and carefully-groomed mustache, he tends to draw a crowd wherever he chooses to tread. Only those with an eye for masterful deception can catch the trick when he performs, but there are several of his illusions (most notably the levitating man) that many believe to be the work of revolutionary technology concealed on Khan’s person instead of the usual trickery performed by even the most celebrated stage magicians.
