100 Whispers & Rumors To Hear in Hoardreach, The City of Wyrms!

100 Whispers & Rumors To Hear in Hoardreach, The City of Wyrms!Across Sundara, dragons are feared for their power. Creatures of potent magic, they warp the area around themselves as they grow, making the boundaries of their territory obvious to all who cross into their domains. Dragons also tend to be solitary creatures, except for brief periods of time when they mate or brood… which is what makes the formation of Hoardreach so unusual. The City of Wyrms was created by five dragons who all agreed to share the lone mountain the city is built atop. From the forests and the swamp at the base, to the heated core, to the storms and snow at the peak, each of the Founders has their own territory to call their own… and all of them protect their mutual interests.

As word of the city spread, refugees, outcasts and others came to the Founders to ask for their protection. They bent the knee, and offered to support the city in exchange for a place to call their own. In time, Hoardreach made alliances with other towns, as well, sitting in the center of a web of influence and power. With time and power, though, come whispers of what might be happening down dark alleys, and behind the vault doors of the Founders’ lairs. Rumors fill the City of Wyrms, coming from within and without… which of these are mere speculations, and which contain a seed of truth, is up to you.

Here are some sample results:

4. Westgate is seen by some as a consolation territory given to Swamp Shadow only to keep him from turning his back on the Cooperation as a whole. However, those who listen to the whisper stream will hear that the black wyrm carefully navigated the political waters of the original settling in order to sink his claws deep into this part of the city. Swamp Shadow does nothing without a purpose, which makes many wonder just what the district’s true value must be, and why the dragon was so determined that it would bear his wyrm mark.

5. The exact recipe of the potent liquor known as dragon’s blood has never been revealed. However, it’s been whispered that one reason it’s so hard to make outside of Hoardreach is that it has to be brewed and aged in wyrm-marked territory. An extremely risky proposal anywhere else in Sundara, this unique fermentation would be significantly easier to come by in the City of Wyrms. Assuming, that is, this particular rumor isn’t just a cover to hide the true secrets of this spirit.

6. Cuisine in Westgate tends to be… unusual for those who aren’t accustomed to it. From meat that’s begun to rot (or which is actively rotting, depending on the residents in question), to poisonous powders used for spice, food in this district can be outright deadly for those who aren’t prepared for it. There are some who believe it’s a farce, though, and that the “cooks” in the district simply claim they eat these deadly concoctions to justify the presence of the deadly substances. In truth, they sell these poisons to anyone with the gold, the little bottles of “sauce” often acting as a death sentence when applied to the edge of a blade.
