Adventuring might involve exploring large caves, but travelling through the wilderness can result in finding much smaller places.
This supplement has 100 caves, and similar shelters, that could be found when travelling. They may or may not be occupied, and may or may not be natural. They may provide shelter or be a source of danger or adventure hooks.
The supplement is also available in a system neutral version. You do not need both versions
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
77. The entrance to this cave looks strangely regular (DC 5 Perception check), and on examination proves to be artificial, for beyond the rectangular entrance is what looks like an ancient hall with carvings on the walls, now buried beneath the earth.
78. The floor of this cave is formed from hexagonal stone pillars, identifiable (with a DC 10 Knowledge (dungeoneering) check) as being basalt, something the knowledgeable (DC 10 Knowledge (geography) check) can determine as being odd, as the cave is not volcanic in origin.
79. The floor of this rocky cave is covered in a layer of white gravel. The gravel doesn’t match the rock of the cave, which is of a grey hue, and also appears (DC 5 Perception check) to have been raked into decorative patterns.
