Taiga is cold land though not always arctic, mostly lowland and sometimes tundra. It’s lowland and often flat.
This supplement has 100 encounters suitable for such land that can be used to enliven a journey or as a source of potential adventure hooks.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
73. Smoke is rising from trees in the distance, getting thicker and thicker as it’s watched. It looks (DC 8 Knowledge (nature) check) as if the forest is starting to catch fire and that it will soon turn into a fully-fledged forest fire (see Forest Fires in Chapter 13 – Environment in the Core Rulebook).
74. Snow lies in drifts on the taiga, in some cases several feet deep where it has been blown by the wind. The snow not only slows travel but also hides any dangers that might lurk beneath the surface (see Rain, Snow, Sleet, and Hail in Chapter 13 – Environment in the Core Rulebook).
75. Sounds can be heard coming from up ahead, revealed to be from a pack of wolves (wolves) that has surrounded a stag of immense size (herd animal, stag, see Bestiary 4, with the Advanced Creature template). The wolves are harassing the stag, and several wolf bodies, their bellies ripped open by antlers, show things are not going that well for them.
