In a fantasy setting, characters can come across martial types fulfilling various roles. These roles may vary from soldiers through to the more mercenary type.
This supplement has 100 such that can be used to flesh out mercenary companies, men-at-arms and soldiers, and possibly guards with some modifications. Each is given a name and a brief description.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
65. Querrin Talda: Querrin is an accomplished warrior, at least according to them. They have killed many opposing soldiers that they know of, and have the notches carved into their weapon to prove it, as well as possibly killing many others. Most are unsure as to whether Querrin really is the bloodthirsty psychopath they portray, or whether they are just full of it, carving notches to pretend they’re far more capable than they seem.
66. Quindon Vraxan: Quindon grew up with a bow, spent years hunting with more and more powerful bows and eventually became an archer when they joined the military. They are, if not the best archer, certainly one of the top few, and rather than being used for such as arrow storm tactics with other archers will be one selected to perform missions that require more precision that just shooting huge numbers of arrows at huge numbers of people.
67. Raddigan Melchor: Raddigan is from the hill country, where minding sheep is a common and, to Raddigan, immensely boring, means of employment. Raddigan, like most of their people, had to spend time with the flocks when they were young, but left as soon as they could. One talent they did pick up from that period of their life is skill with the sling. This they use to get the odd piece of meat for their fellows’ stew pot as well as occasionally ruining the life of enemy soldiers.
