100 Sci-Fi Mercenary Companies

100 Sci-Fi Mercenary CompaniesWhenever and wherever there are battles and wars, you can find people willing to fight such for money, not for a cause. This supplement has 100 different mercenary companies that could be encountered in a science fiction setting.

Each company is given a name and a description of their specialities. They include mercenary armour, cyberwarfare specialists and those whose methods are aimed at disrupting foes, rather than open warfare, as well as more traditional combat forces. They can be used as potential antagonists or perhaps as people the characters wish to join or hire.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

34. Nova Company: Wielding weapons that direct blasts of nuclear fire, the Nova Company’s tactics and armaments are banned on most civilized worlds. On fringe worlds, though, there are blighted battlefields that won’t heal for centuries that can testify to the raw force these mercenaries are capable of wielding once they’ve got boots on the ground. Often used to combat deadly threats which are considered immune to more common small arms, the Nova Company has a reputation for clearing huge infestations of void ‘sects using their fission rifles.

35. Shadow Brigade: Raised from the subterranean slums of Noctus Segundus, the members of the Shadow Brigade have adapted to lives lived almost fully in darkness. This makes them some of the most dangerous night fighters in the known verse, as well as particularly vicious ambush specialists. Their ability to navigate tight tunnels and urban sprawls with equal aplomb has allowed them to excel at a variety of assignments, as well, swelling their reputation. Called morlocks by some, because of their lack of skin pigmentation and pale blue or red eyes, these mercenaries ensure the fighting doesn’t stop just because the sun’s gone down.

36. Gauss’s Ghosts: There are few things more frightening on a battlefield than a sniper, but even among the most elite forces deployed today the members of the Ghosts are the stuff of legends. Able to hit marks from miles away, and to calmly sit, wait and watch for days on end, it’s said no one will know one of these mercenaries was even present until the bodies start dropping. Even their allies will likely never know they’re present, which has made the roster of the Ghosts into a topic hotly debated by many troops. Some claim they recruit and train internally, using their invisibility as a smoke screen so they can’t be held accountable. Others believe infamous sharpshoots who went missing in battle weren’t killed, but that they supposedly abandoned their old lives for the safe haven offered by Gauss’s free company.
