What Has He Got in His Pockets? 100 Detailed Fantasy Oddities

What Has He Got in His Pockets? 100 Detailed Fantasy OdditiesWhen the foe is defeated it’s time to look through their pockets, backpacks, sacks, pouches and treasure to see just what the loot is. Some of the loot may be valuable; some may just be junk.

There may also be items that are neither obviously valuable nor obviously junk but somewhere in between. This is a list of 100 different small items that could be found in the loot. They should not be overused, else they will no longer be odd.

The items could be used as red herrings, throwing players off the track as they attempt to divine the purpose of something that has none. Or they could be used as adventure hooks.

Here are some sample results:

51. A black leather pouch, long and thin, tied shut with a leather cord. Inside the pouch are a steel knife and fork, both of good quality. There is a heraldic symbol on the handle of each and stamped into the leather of the pouch. (The GM should choose a suitable symbol.)
52. A small steel flask. When opened, it can be easily determined to contain alcohol. (The alcohol is completely pure, far too strong to safely drink in any quantity, and lacks any flavour.)
53. A gold locket on a simple chain. One side of the locket is engraved in a flower pattern, the other is blank. The locket appears to be of a type that is intended to open, but no means of opening it can be seen.
