Adventuring might involve exploring large caves, but travelling through the wilderness can result in finding much smaller places.
This supplement has 100 caves, and similar shelters, that could be found when travelling. They may or may not be occupied, and may or may not be natural. They may provide shelter or be a source of danger or adventure hooks.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
44. In one bank of a large pool of water is an opening into which the water laps. Inside the opening is a small, mostly water-filled cave, though there is a dry shelf of rock running around the edge (three Medium creatures can huddle on the shelf out of the water).
45. In the ground is a pit that looks like it was originally dug as a trap. One wall has collapsed, providing a slope down into the pit, and much of the pit has been covered over with a tangle of branches and vegetation, clearly (DC 5 Wisdom (Perception) check) placed there.
46. In the side of a cliff are a series of small pits, each only a couple feet deep. A Medium creature could huddle inside a pit and gain a bit of shelter from the weather.
