100 Encounters for a Fantasy Jungle (Barbaric!)

100 Encounters for a Fantasy Jungle (Barbaric!)Characters may end up travelling in jungle regions – or, more commonly these days, tropical rainforests – for a number of reasons, with lost civilisations being a popular one.

This supplement has 100 different encounters that characters could have. These may be used as background colour or as potential adventure hooks. They include things, people, places and creatures. Some are potentially dangerous and others are potentially useful.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

16. Bridge – Across a wide gorge stretches a rope bridge with wooden slats. The slats appear rotted and in places are missing, and the rope supports look none too secure either (throw Lore 6+ to identify that the bridge is safe for a single human-sized creature at a time. Any more will cause the bridge to collapse and any creatures who fail to throw Physical 8+ will fall 100’ to the bottom of the gorge; success means that they grasp onto the remains of the bridge).

17. Building – A mostly collapsed small stone building has a huge tree growing out of it, having shouldered aside the oncetiled roof which now lies in broken piles in and around the building.

18. Burn – Part of the jungle has been burned down here, leaving stumps and ash. This has not happened that recently, as there are shoots for new trees and plants growing through the ash. A once
large tree in the centre lies on the ground; it appears to have been struck by lightning (throw Lore 4+ to confirm this).
