100 Clockworks for Shadow of the Demon Lord

100 Clockworks for Shadow of the Demon Lord

100 Clockworks for Shadow of the Demon LordThe clockworks of Shadow of the Demon Lord are mechanical creations in varying sizes and shapes, given life by the addition of a soul.

This supplement has 100 named and briefly described clockworks. They can be used as foes or potential friends or allies.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

85. Turnkey: Turnkey’s name is a play on words. Clockworks need their key turning in order to keep going, but Turnkey is also a literal turnkey; they work in a prison keeping an eye on the prisoners. The clockwork is intensely, perhaps even oddly, loyal to their masters and works literally tirelessly to keep the prisoners in line. Turnkey is immune to attempts to bribe them and has no difficulty in performing acts of torture that would sicken even many hardened torturers. Some believe that Turnkey is essentially mad, having been driven so by being incorporated into a clockwork, and that they enjoy the fact that their work allows them to treat humans badly.

86. Urkhar8: Urkhar8 was designed to be a scholarly clockwork focussed on research for their creator. They remember little of their previous life, and indeed all that they do remember is things related to scholarship, leading Urkhar8 to believe this is what they did before they died. The fact that only their skills remain and that their identity has been mostly erased is a source of annoyance to Urkhar8, and though they are still a scholar, functioning as a sage for those who need them, they left their creator thanks to what happened.

87. Vahn: Vahn is a clockwork who looks completely ordinary, or as ordinary as a creature made from metal, gears and cogs can look. This is deliberate, for the clockwork didn’t always looks this way. Over the years, they have replaced bits of themself to create a much more ordinary and easily overlooked appearance, at least in places where clockworks are somewhat common, such as Lij. Vahn won’t explain why they have decided to do this, for if they are trying to blend in, they will always stand out in one way or another because no matter what they are still a clockwork.
