100 Corpses to Find in a Dungeon (C&C)

100 Corpses to Find in a Dungeon (C&C)

100 Corpses to Find in a Dungeon (C&C)One common element in dungeons – and other areas as well – is dead bodies. Corpses of adventurers who have tried and fallen and bodies of those monsters they have killed on the way. These can be simply described as dead bodies or they can be elaborated on in more detail.

This supplement contains 100 different descriptions of corpses. A few describe specific races and monsters but most can be adapted to many different creatures of the GameMaster’s choice.

The dead have often died in unusual or peculiar ways. These could be a sign that there are hazards or creatures that the characters need to be cautious of in the area. Or perhaps not; they could simply be there to confuse and befuddle players. Each result has a description that can be read aloud to players; many also have further information that can be found on closer investigation and suggestions for the GM.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

33. Electrocuted – This corpse is still smoking slightly, although it does not appear to have actually caught fire. All the muscles are rigidly tensed, and every hair that can be seen is standing on end. (If the body is examined, it will be found to have burns on its skin; a CL 6 Intelligence check will reveal that these are electrical in nature.)

34. Elf – The body of what is probably a male elf, although both ears have been sliced off, lies sprawled on the floor. The elf is wearing leather armour that is still mostly intact, but lacks any weapons. (A CL 6 Intelligence check will reveal that the ears were removed after the elf was killed. The leather armour is usable but first needs some repair as there is a rent in the back where the elf’s heart would be.)

35. Entombed – Sticking out of the rock floor of the room are a head and one arm, both of which have had the flesh eaten off them. (The rest of the corpse, the victim of a transmute mud to rock spell or similar, is encased in the rock. If the corpse is extracted from the rock, such as with a transmute rock to mud spell or 4d10 turns with a pickaxe or other suitable implement – which could result in nearby creatures hearing the noise and for wandering monster rolls, if applicable, to be more common – most of the rest of the flesh has been eaten as well; scavengers used the hole left by the throat to gain access to the rest of the body.)
