100 Encounters in a Fey Forest (C&C)

100 Encounters in a Fey Forest (C&C)Forests in early settings can be strange sometimes, but forests inhabited by the fey can take this strangeness to whole new levels.

This supplement has 100 different things that could be encountered by players when travelling through a fey forest. Some of these encounters are potentially beneficial and others are potentially dangerous. Some could be both and others are just plain odd, encounters that may puzzle players but have no real impact.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

44. As the party crosses near a small garden, an armored figure upon a destrier leaps from the bushes and rides forth. A CL 10 Wisdom save reveals the figure is an illusion. A CL 11 Intelligence check shows that the spell is triggered by proximity, and it’s tied to the border of the garden. It appears to be meant as a scarecrow to keep pixies and sprites away.

45. The party comes to a gigantic lake, and there’s a bell that says “Ring For Ferry.” Those who ring see a disturbance in the water, and a colossal turtle surfaces. The back of his shell is fairly flat, and he barters for passage to the other side.

46. A small, oddly-shaped tree grows near a path. Behind a pane of what looks like crystal are rows of books. A sign reads, “Leave A Book, Take A Book.” The books include fantasy tales, myths, treatises on magic, and maps of the local wood. If someone places a scroll within the lending library, they may remove a scroll for another spell of equal or lower level which they just happen to find as part of the exchange. If someone tries to take a book before leaving one, it won’t come out.
