The Ahl-i-Batin of Mage: The Ascension are one of the oldest Crafts around and are members of the Disparate Alliance. This supplement has 100 Batini that could be encountered. Each is named and given a brief description. The Batini can be used for brief encounters or as potential sources of adventure hooks.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
72. Saamyya al-Zaki: The Ahli-i-Batin abhor Entropy magick, as it is counter to their ideals of unity. Saamyya is one who takes this abhorrence to possibly excessive levels. The Batini not only abhors the magick; they class all who practice it as equally abhorrent. If given the chance, Saamyya will try to stop and practitioner of Entropy magick, and they are perfectly willing to use lethal levels of violence in this stopping. They are not always able to behave in such a way, especially when some practitioners are fellow members of the Disparate Alliance.
73. Sad al-Riaz: Sad is a self-taught Batini, like a number of them are, and even though they have since encountered the Ahl-i-Batin as a whole, they maintain much of their independence and self-reliance. Given that they had to and did make their own way in the world before being discovered by the Ahl-i-Batin, Sad has perhaps a less than entirely enthusiastic belief in the value of being a member of that Craft, even if they do share many things with it. In many respects, the Batini is more of an Orphan than they are a Batini.
74. Saffron Ouyahia: Saffron is a Batini scholar who works at a university. They are a regular writer of various academic papers as well as a contributor to academic journals. Saffron’s academic output is designed to influence those who read them and steer things to the benefit of the Ahl-i-Batin, though such is not remotely clear to those who study the Batini’s work. Though few other than academics of similar interests read Saffron’s papers, they are subtly worded in order to gently steer the reader towards things that make them more agreeable to the Ahl-i-Batin’s goals.
