100 Businesses to Find in Arkham

100 Businesses to Find in ArkhamArkham is the focal point of many campaigns set in Miskatonic Country, especially in the 1920s. It’s home to Miskatonic University and has many Mythos connections.

This supplement has 100 businesses that can be used to expand on those in official supplements. They are described and given general locations in Arkham, along with tips for in-game use.

Here are some sample results:

17. Smoker’s Delight: Run by the tobacconist Harlan Reeds, this shop carries a variety of local blends in addition to slightly more exotic choices. Reeds sells pipes, cigars and cigarettes, as well, making this Downtown shop a place that’s quite popular among the sophisticated and the working class alike.

In-Game Use: Reeds is well-versed in pharmacology, and he has the ability to provide psychoactive compounds should one need them for either personal or ritual use. Reeds could also provide insight on any entheogens (drugs used for religious purposes) mentioned in occult books, or found at ritual sites during the course of an investigation.

18. Ratcher’s Radios: Run by Nadine “Ratchet” Ratcher, this store stocks a variety of spare parts as well as used radios. With her head full of frizzy hair, along with her prominent front teeth, Nadine can fix nearly any problem one might have with a set. Though wealthier members of the city might call on official technicians, those with shallower pockets often come to this Easttown store.

In-Game Use: Nadine can provide feedback on unusual phenomena affecting technology, as well as helping repair damaged recording devices. Interested in capturing evidence of ghosts, alien entities and other creatures, she may also make for an enthusiastic (if occasionally scatter-brained) ally.

19. Cosmopolitan Theater: Originally a small theater with balcony seating in River Town, the Cosmopolitan has been converted (at least partially) into a movie house. Showing films for pocket change, the place has grown popular among students and professors, as well as the general populous of River Town and even French Hill. Traditional theater (especially productions by university students) often take place at night.

In-Game Use: The theater may end up with experimental films, or unusual pieces of theater, which could act as plot points for an investigation. There are also regular attendees and critics one might meet who could provide insight about particular productions… especially certain rites and rituals disguised as simple plays.
