100 Encounters for a Fantasy Jungle – Supplement for Zweihander RPG

100 Encounters for a Fantasy Jungle - Supplement for Zweihander RPGIn many settings and systems, from ancient to futuristic and from fantasy to mundane to science fiction, characters may at some point travel through a jungle or rainforest.

Rather than simply being told that they are passing through a jungle, here are 100 different things to see, heard and find in such an area. Some may have the potential to be dangerous or inconvenient, or a GM may decide that there is more meaning in the events than it appears. Or players may themselves believe that, even if it isn’t actually true.

The supplement is also available in a Pathfinder and a system neutral version. All copies are not needed.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

33. Dark – This area of the jungle is far darker than normal. The canopies prevent any daylight penetrating through to the ground, making it worse than night on the jungle floor, for there are not even any stars to illuminate the area (the light level is total darkness). Strangely, it is also utterly quiet, and there is neither sight nor sound of any living thing bar plants and trees.

34. Dart – A blowgun dart thuds into a nearby tree. If the dart is examined, the tip of it is dosed with a powerful paralytic poison, but whoever fired the dart has vanished. (Treat the poison as Folkbane; see the Hazards & Healing chapter of the ZWEIHÄNDER: Revised Core Rulebook.)

35. Deer – A species of deer runs past with bloody froth coming from its mouth. Sticking out of the side is a broken spear. If the deer is found, and it will soon collapse, the spear is revealed to have a stone spearhead. The spear’s owner may be following the deer.
