100 Hooks and Rumours to Hear in the Pirate Nations

100 Hooks and Rumours to Hear in the Pirate Nations

100 Hooks and Rumours to Hear in the Pirate NationsCharacters may encounter rumours when looking for information. Some rumours may be important, others not so much.

This supplement has 100 rumours that characters could hear in or about the various Pirate Nations. Whether or not any particular rumour is true is up to the GM. They can be used as misdirection, background colour or potential adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

28. Kò nan Enspektè is an organisation founded by Chaplain Nkansa of Jaragua after the Atabean Trading Company were forced out but before she left the government. Some think that the chaplain is still involved with the organisation, secretly directing them to benefit Jaragua from the side-lines. There are also rumours that the Kò nan Enspektè have been seen further afield than Jaragua and its surroundings, though given it is a secretive organisation, such is nearly impossible to confirm.

29. Kraken are monstrous creatures, even though most believe there is only one, that prey on ships, seemingly, for want of a better description, just for the fun of it. They don’t appear to eat humans; they just seem to like killing them. There are rumours that kraken attacks have recently risen sharply, though this can be hard to determine, as many kraken attacks leave no survivors.

30. La Bucca is a place where representatives of many Théan nations come to recruit privateers using Letters of Marque. The island nation is a place where this has been formalised into a business, yet there is a rumour of a secondary market in the letters themselves. That Letters of Marque that are supposedly, and probably are, legitimate, are being resold to captains that the nations issuing the letters would never recruit.
