When asking in spaceport bars and other places, travellers may here a variety of rumours. Some may be rumours they are seeking, others may not.

This has 100 different rumours about the area behind the Claw, primarily the Deneb sector. They can be used as background colour, misdirection or adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

87. The Segani, a minor species of Deneb sector, are known not to be native to their homeworld of Segan and are sometimes believed to be an engineered people. The Segani don’t make use of the jump drive, as jumpspace can drive them insane, and there are suggestions that this reaction is engineered into them as well, though it isn’t clear why, except perhaps as a means of keeping them largely contained in one system.

88. The sentient species of Kernal in the Star Lane subsector of Deneb, the Yafizethe, decided to unify their world, a process that was difficult and required a lot of talking. There has been some conflict and the occasional insurgency, and it’s rumoured that there have been more of the latter in recent years, suggesting that perhaps the central government is starting to fall apart.

89. The Serpents were the native sapient species of Jode in the Pretoria subsector of Deneb, but went extinct when a geological event resulted in the sinking of one of the planet’s continents. Some claim to have found suggestions that this even wasn’t natural, but artificially induced in some manner, though it isn’t clear who would have done this, as this would seem to be prior to the Ancients, or why a Stone Age culture would be destroyed by beings capable of sinking continents.
