100 Orphans for Mage: The Ascension

100 Orphans for Mage: The Ascension

100 Orphans for Mage: The AscensionThe orphans of Mage: The Ascension are those mages who don’t belong to any major sect or group. Some are members of the Disparate Alliance, whilst others have never even heard of the Ascension War. This supplement has 100 orphans that could be encountered. Each is named and given a brief description. An individual orphan may know a great deal about what’s going on, or they may know nothing. Some are solitary whilst others belong to small groups. The orphans can be used for brief encounters or as potential sources of adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

54. Liana Vitucci: Liana is not this orphan’s real name, for after their Awakening and the ensuing damage they fled and changed their name, too ashamed to continue as they used to. Not that anyone was killed, but there were injuries, injuries that Liana couldn’t explain at the time. The orphan now knows more, but is still avoiding their old home, reluctant to go back after so long. Over the years, they’ve learnt more about magick and how to handle it, but when Liana becomes emotional, their grip on their control weakens and accidents could happen. If Liana isn’t helped, Paradox backlash is probably in the orphan’s future.

55. Lilli Dietrich: Lilli is essentially a con-artist, using their mage skills and a line of patter to separate suckers from their money and valuables. So far, Lilli hasn’t run into any problems using their skills in a manner that might be described as being semi-public, as those who are conned believe they are just tricks, but little does the orphan know just how close they are skirting to Paradox every time they use their skills in such a manner. Not having anyone to explain matters to Lilli means that eventually they are going to cross over the line.

56. Linda Menicucci: Linda works as a student counsellor and does a decent job at it, but the orphan is looking for something specific in students. Problems that a regular counsellor wouldn’t be able to deal with, and might in fact recommend that a student be given psychiatric help. In other words, Linda is looking for young people who are Awakening, in order to help them through it.
Naturally, they don’t come across many people who are in the process of becoming a mage, but they also run an online discussion group which allows them to interact with more people, and that can connect them with more new mages.
