100 Rumours to Hear in the Monarchies of Mau

100 Rumours to Hear in the Monarchies of MauJust as in other settings, characters may inquire around in the Monarchies of Mau for rumours. This may be done whilst on an adventure, as they seek further information on the matter at hand, or at other times.

This supplement has 100 different rumours that characters could hear. Whether or not any specific rumour is true or not is up to the Guide. They can be used as background colour or as a source of potential adventure seeds.

To use the rumours, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

39. House Rex is the most accepting of the monarchies towards outsiders and gladly welcomes them into its fold. This apparently welcoming behaviour has a sinister motive, though; Rex is building up strength and reputation so that the best and the brightest of the youngest cats seek to join the house’s ranks. This will give Rex and advantage in every field, as they scoop up the most talented cats from under the noses of the other monarchs, leading to their eventual domination of the Monarchies of Mau.

40. House Siberian has been slowly establishing new fortresses in the mountains to the north, especially in those area where the mountains start dwindling away. The fortresses are being built in
order to expand Siberian’s territory to the north, gaining access to undeveloped lands and new areas suitable for mining, thereby slowly expanding the house’s wealth, power and influence. Only House Korat is truly able to expand their influence northwards, given that Siberian has managed to take control of most of the northern border.

41. Increasing numbers of bandits have been attacking travellers on some of the more outlying roads of the monarchies, in some cases all but cutting of some villages. Unusually, these bandits
have many different species working together, and apparently doing it well. Rats, mice, badgers, dogs and cats are all cooperating and attacking those using the roads.
