100 Strange Sights to See in The Hedge

100 Strange Sights to See in The HedgeThe Hedge is the strange place that stands between the mortal world and the True Fae. It is a dangerous and magical place, ever-shifting and of curious mien.

This supplement has 100 odd sites that changelings could see in the Hedge. They may range from the merely odd to the useful to the dangerous.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

follows a changeling’s trail. Those who address the fox politely find that it approaches calmly. His name is Reginald, or so he says, and he would prefer not to travel such a dangerous place alone if he could avoid it. Those who allow Reginald to travel with them find themselves accosted by angry hobs looking to skin the fox for supposedly stealing from them. Reginald denies stealing anything, insisting that he was given eggs in good faith which he ate (contracts that detect lies reveal this is true). Those who protect Reginald, whether by fighting the hobs or by running them off with an Intimidation or Persuasion-based roll, earn a favor from the fox. Reginald is surprisingly well-connected, able to find gateways into and out of the Hedge, to lead one to trods or to find secrets… or at least to locate merchants who deal in them.

82. At the end of a short path lies a gingerbread house with licorice gutters and peppermint bark siding. Fragrant smoke rises from the chimney, and the front door is invitingly open. Those bold enough to approach find themselves in a bakery, surrounded by racks of donuts, cakes, cookies, fresh bread and more on display. Through a set of bat-winged doors comes a wide-bellied, heavily-bearded man with the tips of large fangs poking up from his lower jaw. He’s carrying a tray of croissants and danishes, which he slides into a display case. The ogre is Hansel the Baker, and he’s more than happy to trade his delicious creations for news, favors and especially hard-to-find ingredients. Those willing to pay higher prices can even acquire cakes and sweets infused with goblin fruit, which provide all the effects of the fruit used to make the treat in question, but which are usually far more pleasant to eat.

83. A wooden rack of beautiful, golden eggs sits near the side of a trod. A sign reads An egg can be of great help in your most trying times. Those who take an egg must treat it gently, and keep it close, because when the egg is broken it provides a minor aid in the situation one finds themselves in. If someone needs entry into a goblin market, for instance, the egg will do. If someone throws the egg at an attacker it explodes into blinding smoke, imposing a -2 dice penalty on the attacker’s dice pools for 2 rounds. If crushed out of fear, the egg allows an immediate re-roll on a Resolve + Composure roll with +2 bonus dice. If the egg is eaten raw it heals 1 level of lethal damage, or provides 2 glamour if one is not suffering lethal damage at the moment. While these eggs seem to have no downsides, those who mistrust the Hedge and its “gifts” rarely make use of these unusual items. Only one egg can be taken per individual at a time.
