100 Verbenae for Mage: The Ascension

100 Verbenae for Mage: The Ascension

100 Verbenae for Mage: The AscensionThe Verbenae, or Verbena, of Mage: The Ascension are members of the Council of Nine Mystick Traditions. This supplement has Verbenae that could be encountered. Each is named and given a brief description. Some of the Verbenae are dangerously attached to the older, bloodier, ways. The Verbenae can be used for brief encounters or as potential sources of adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

81. Ruben Kvam: Ruben is an isolated Verbenae who lives away from civilisation, and from other people, in a cabin they built with their own hands. Occasionally, Ruben trades with others, primarily other Verbenae, for things they lack, which mostly tends to be cold iron tools, as otherwise they are perfectly capable of being self-sufficient, hunting gathering and growing all their own food and making everything else they need; with the right tools, wood is a prime source for construction and heating, so Ruben doesn’t need much in that line.

82. Sabrina Deslys: Sabrina seeks to connect to the primordial consciousness using methods that would be familiar to one of the Children of Knowledge, given that they involve the use of mind-expanding drugs. Unlike the Children, though, all of the drugs that Sabrina uses are completely natural and often date back centuries if not millennia in their usage, with such usage often being
tied to traditional forms of shamanism and similar. This isn’t to say that Sabrina is constantly under the effect of any drug; the Verbenae only uses them in certain rituals under controlled conditions.

83. Sam Grant: Sam often seems to live more like a wild animal than a human, though admittedly a wild animal that can think. They haunt the wilder regions outside of civilisation, easily living off the land but never remaining in one place long, instead moving on, though roaming within a large range, just like some predators do. Sam barely uses anything in the way of tools and, which some who have seen find disturbing, would far rather rip something’s throat out with their teeth than use a weapon to kill it. Sam isn’t wild, though; this is all done because of personal choice.
