Characters may need to find a place to camp whilst travelling, especially in cold regions, and this list has ten such campsites that are suitable for cold, snowy and icy regions.
- A hole has been dug into the snow, presumably by a large animal, given the size of the hole and the musky smell coming from it. The hole is easily large enough for several people.
- Corner of a ruined stone building, all that remains of what used to stand there.
- Jumble of broken ice blocks that have an area beneath them that’s out of the wind and weather.
- Lump of ice that’s tall enough to provide a degree of shelter from the elements, though it’s cold to be near.
- Partly collapsed igloo, whose roof has fallen in on one side, but which still mostly provides protection from the weather.
- Several ice-covered rocks form a rough circle, with snow built up between the gaps.
- Small cave, with an entrance partly blocked by fallen snow.
- Small dell, surrounded by snow on all sides.
- Snow has been blown into high drifts, with a hollow between them that’s out of the wind.
- Toppled tree that has fallen thanks to the weight of snow on its branches. The tree’s trunk and roots, together with the hollow where it stood, provide shelter.
