D6: The Strange Rumours – Recursions: New Centropolis III

WorldsThe Strange is a game published by Monte Cook Games. It is, at least in part, set in the normal world, but there are other worlds out there, in the Strange. This list has six rumours for that setting, similar to the various different adventure hooks in the books, and these can be used as adventure hooks or simple misinformation.

  1. It’s rumoured that a couple of minor superheroes have gone missing, and they’ve been disappeared so that someone can develop a new drug, not one that’s intended to be addictive as such, but one which is supposed to allow the user to gain superheroic powers for a short time.
  2. Nightmare Chill and Mister Genocide are two supervillains who seem more interested in making money and living the good life on the proceeds than having any great plan to conquer the city or the world. It’s rumoured that the two have been seen working together a few times recently, suggesting that they may be planning a big score that needs both of them to pull off.
  3. Some claim that the bounties on superhumans issued by the Department of Superhuman Affairs against those that don’t act in the public interest are more than a little biased. It’s said that some superhumans never fall afoul of the DSA, no matter what they do, and others are rapidly driven into becoming supervillains after their attempts to become superheroes results in bounties against them.
  4. The Department of Superhuman Affairs is said to be setting up its own team of superheroes, one fully endorsed by the DSA who are effectively officers of the law in their own right. This team would have much greater leeway than normal superhumans, and given that the DSA itself would investigate any complaints, less oversight.
  5. The quantum collapse arch is used by the Department of Superhuman Affairs to “imprison” supervillains, by having them cease to exist when they pass through it. There’s a rumour, though, that those who pass through the arch are actually transported to another realm.
  6. The supervillain Mister Genocide can kil with a touch as he can synthesize deadly poison from his skin. He can also make his spittle and even his breath fatal to others, though it’s rumoured that he’s started losing control of his ability recently, sometimes killing even when he had no intention of doing so.
