100 Descriptions for Keys

100 Descriptions for KeysDuring their journeys, characters will come across locks and the keys needed to open them. This supplement has 100 different descriptions for keys that can be used to enliven them.

Whilst most keys follow a similar general format, some of the keys do not. They do not look like typical keys and are only really keys because they are intended to open locks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

40. A severed, fleshy tentacle that writhes around until it approaches the lock for which it is used, as which point it forms a rigid shape.

41. A silver key that has a silver coin as its bow, with the blade welded onto the coin. They key is weak at the join.

42. A solid piece of brass in the shape of a five-pointed star, or pentagram.
