Even when travelling by river, whether by boat or other means, characters can still have encounters.

This supplement has 100 different encounters for river voyages. Some of them are innocuous whilst others range from the odd to the potentially dangerous. They can be used to enhance a river journey or possibly as adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

59. Reeds fill a small area that has been scooped out of one of the river’s banks. By the looks of it, the reeds have been recently harvested.

60. Rising from the water is a single stone bridge pier. Clearly ancient, the pier is also not far enough across to have supported an entire bridge, and there may be collapsed piers under the water’s surface.

61. Rocks lurk just below the water’s surface, waiting to rip open the hull of an unwary boat.
