100 Pulp Era Rumours to Hear

100 Pulp Era Rumours to HearIn the pulp era of the 20s and 30s, all sorts of strange encounters were had by adventurers. This supplement has 100 different rumours that characters can overhear in such a setting.

They range from lost civilisations to hidden cities, from weird science to the occult and paranormal. They can be used as background colour or as potential adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

55. Leslie Kleig, a noted inventor, has been demonstrating a new substance that she has recently created. The substance, currently named Kleigite, exhibits properties that work counter to the pull of gravity and can be applied to vehicles to make them float above the ground. It is even suggested that Kleigite could be used in space travel, though it currently too expensive to manufacture in the sort of quantities that would be needed in such a situation.

56. Local businessman Max Sparkman’s trial starts soon. Mr Sparkman was, up until recently, one of the pillars of the local community, owning the largest factory in the area and being a noted philanthropist. Mr Sparkman was arrested several months ago at his home, where, on following up reports of a disturbance, the police found him surrounded by the hacked-apart members of his family. Mr Sparkman claimed that they were no longer his family, but had been taken over by brain bugs from another solar system.

57. Members of an archaeological team that recently excavated and newly-discovered tomb in Egypt have been suffering a lot of unfortunate accidents. There was allegedly a curse that promised retribution on anyone who disturbed the rest of the tomb’s occupant, and so far, four people have died in unusual circumstances. One has been struck by lightning on a clear day, one somehow drowned in his hotel room, one was stung to death by a swarm of wasps in a vehicle and the last one died when the bridge he was on suddenly collapsed.
