Settlements, especially larger ones, in a fantasy setting may have open areas that are classed as parks, gardens or common ground.
This supplement has a range of parks that characters can find, from the tiny to those taking up acres. Some are ordinary enough whilst others have special features or potential dangers.
To use the list either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
89. There are very few trees in this parkland and much of the ground is covered in neatly-raked gravel rather than grass. In the centre of each patch of gravel is a cooking pit surrounded by stone benches and tables, and the smell of cooking is often on the air as the visitors make use of the facilities.
90. There’s little area for plants to grow on the ground, and instead most of that is taken up by grass and gravel paths. Stone pillars rise up from this to hold plant beds in the air, and vines and tendrils flow down from above to decorate the area.
91. Trees and bushes have been torn up in places in this park, and grass has been dug up and borders stripped of plants. More trees and bushes that are ready for planting lie around and workers are redeveloping the borders as pieces of wooden furniture are positioned in different places.
