100 Temperate Wilderness Locations

100 Temperate Wilderness LocationsDesigning an entire world at once is not always easy and there can often be blank areas that need filling in. This supplement has 100 different locations that can be used to flesh out a world, from large to small, covering everything from bodies of water to mountain ranges.

Each location is given a name by which it is known and some details on what makes it interesting, which are often connected to the name.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate locations manually.

Here are some sample results:

32. Fell Lands: The Fell Lands are riddled with many shallow canyons which are, despite their shallow depth, always filled with shadows. The sun does not appear to be capable of penetrating the shadows that lurk in the canyons’ depths and there are rumours of fell beasts within the shadows, waiting for the foolish to enter their realm. Indeed, many people have disappeared in the area over the years, and locals will refuse to enter the region, even if offered substantial amounts of money to do so.

33. Fiend-Wrought Swamp: The swamp is dotted with pools and streams of shallow water that wind between the deciduous trees that grow in the area. Water-loving plants grow in the pools and around the bases of the trees. However, there is something wrong with everything that grows in the swamp, and even the water is tainted. A feeling of oppressive antagonism affects those who enter the swamp, and the trees and plants are warped and blackened, with knots on the trunks and patterns on the leaves resembling screaming faces, and any animals, birds and water life in the area is similarly affected. This all stems from a buried Hellgate that lies deep beneath the swamp, in the buried remains of a wizard’s tower, one whose interest focussed on the lower regions. The gate is not totally active, and nothing physical can pass through, but the hellish taints that can seep through have changed everything in the swamp, twisting it and making it antagonistic to normal life.

34. Foetid Mountains: A mountain range known for the high winds and storms that constantly wrap them, but also for how unhealthy the storms are. There is something in the air of the mountain range that taints the storms and winds. Spending too much time within the winds can cause creatures to pass out from noxious vapours, meaning that they are mostly inhabited by beings not affected by such. It isn’t known whether the vapours are emitted from beneath the range, or whether it is a peculiarity caused by the mixing of different airs, said mixing being responsible for the storms and winds.
