100 Tropical Wilderness Locations

100 Tropical Wilderness LocationsA GameMaster might not always have every location in the game world filled out and this supplement provides 100 different locations to flesh out the blank spots on a map. The locations range from small to very large, and each is given a name and a description as to what makes it interesting.

The locations all have a tropical theme and can be used as potential adventure locations, source of adventure hooks or simply to fill in an empty bit if players zigged instead of zagged.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

63. Marmoreal Caves: Sea caves located in the side of a cliff by the ocean, many of them are permanently flooded whilst the sea levels in others varies with the tides. Within the caves are many marble statues, depicting all sorts of creatures. Some have thought that a petrifying creature was responsible for the statues, but this appears not to be the case. It may be that an ancient civilisation stored the statues in the caves for a forgotten reason, and probably before they became flooded, as the statues are now starting to show signs of damage from the sea.

64. Medusan Emptiness: This hot desert is devoid of any vegetation or animal life and crossing it is hazardous. The desert’s most notable feature is that it is dotted with many statues of all types of living creatures, from animals to people, all incredibly lifelike. This has caused the rumour that the desert is inhabited by one or more medusae, and the statues are the victims of the medusae. However, no-one has ever reported seeing a medusa, although seeing one close-up might be the last thing they ever saw, and attempts to return the statues to life have always failed. Either any medusae present are different to the norm, or there is some other process creating the statues.

65. Merciful Downs: These gently rolling chalk hills are covered in verdant grass. Nearby settlements use the downs for animal grazing, and wild animals are not uncommon in the region either. Both do tend to attract predators, but the downs are generally a peaceful, warm location, and it is believed that this is where they gain their name. The name actually comes from a long-ago habit of “mercifully” exposing unwanted babies on the downs, a practice that died out centuries ago. Parts of the downs are still haunted by the spirits of the children, but unless the downs are dug into, these spirits remain peaceful.
