Mountains can be dangerous places to visit in and of themselves, with such as mud and rock slides, cold, freezing winds and the chance of falling from high up.
This supplement has 100 different encounters that can be used to enliven journeys through such regions. They can be used as background colour or as a source of potential adventure hooks. Some are potentially useful, others are potentially dangerous and some are odd.
The supplement is also available in Pathfinder and system-neutral versions. You do not need to buy all versions.
To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.
Here are some sample results:
37. Cutting into the side of the mountain is a deep, steep-sided valley. The vegetation in the valley is all twisted and sickly, apparently dying, and the smell of rot rises from it, as all the animal and birdlife in the valley has died. Curiously, none of the corpses are attracting insects. (Large quantities of arsenic have poisoned everything in the valley; characters will be safe
unless they eat any of the dead creatures.)
38. Dangling from the face of a cliff are several corpses. The corpses are linked together by a rope and appear to have been climbing the cliff face before something killed them.
39. Dense trees hide a sudden drop-off from view. The trees suddenly disappear, revealing the top of a steep cliff. Travellers who are going through the trees too fast may not have enough time to stop (characters travelling at a speed faster than walking pace must make an Average Athletics roll to stop in time; those who fail must make a Hard Athletics roll to grab onto a root or outcropping to avoid falling off the cliff).
