100 Corpses to Find in a Dungeon (PFRPG)

100 Corpses to Find in a Dungeon (PFRPG)One common element in dungeons – and other areas as well – is dead bodies. Corpses of adventurers who have tried and fallen and bodies of those monsters they have killed on the way. These can be simply described as dead bodies or they can be elaborated on in more detail.

This supplement contains 100 different descriptions of corpses. A few describe specific races and monsters but most can be adapted to many different creatures of the GameMaster’s choice.

The dead have often died in unusual or peculiar ways. These could be a sign that there are hazards or creatures that the characters need to be cautious of in the area. Or perhaps not; they could simply be there to confuse and befuddle players. Each result has a description that can be read aloud to players; many also have further information that can be found on closer investigation and suggestions for the GM.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

The supplement is also available in a system neutral version. Both copies are not needed.

Here are some sample results:

47. Giant Slug – The body of a giant slug is contorted on the floor, clearly dead, its flesh marred by tears and rents. The slug has dried out, becoming almost rubbery in texture, and there are small pits in the floor. (The pits are from acid.)
48. Giant Worm – A huge worm, easily tens of feet long and several feet wide, is thrashing about this chamber, banging into the walls, floor and ceiling. A toothed maw at one end of the worm is spasmodically opening and closing and large wounds mar its sides. (The worm is actually dead, and has been for some time – its body just hasn’t caught up with that yet. This does not mean that the worm isn’t dangerous; characters passing too close may be hit by the worm in its death spasms, crushed by it against a surface or bitten by its maw. Characters who pass within 10’ of the worm will be subject to either a bludgeoning or a bite attack on 1-2 on 1d6. The bludgeoning attack is Atk +20 melee, causing 2d6 damage, the bite attack is Atk +10 melee, causing 4d6 damage.)
49. Grey Dust – A pile of vaguely humanoid-shaped and sized grey dust is on the floor here. (This is all that remains of an individual who was disintegrated. There may still be a faint magical aura of transmutation from the spell or device used.)
