Even when travelling by river, whether by boat or other means, characters can still have encounters.

This supplement has 100 different encounters for river voyages. Some of them are innocuous whilst others range from the odd to the potentially dangerous. They can be used to enhance a river journey or possibly as adventure hooks.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random result or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample results:

68. Something only briefly glimpsed seems to have just settled beneath the water’s surface.

69. Spaced at equal distances (DC 8 Perception confirms) on each bank are small piles of river-smoothed stones. The piles continue for several hundred feet.

70. Standing on each side of the river is a single statue, a dozen feet high. The statues seem (DC 12 Perception) to be facing in the same direction, upstream, but are so worn by time and weather that any features are impossible to make out.
