A Night at The Slaughterhouse Inn is a horror-themed module for 3-4 1st or 2nd level characters. It takes place in the setting Sundara: Dawn of a New Age, but it can be run separate and apart from that setting as a stand-alone adventure in other fantasy RPG settings that use the Pathfinder rules system as well.
The town of Hag’s End has been nearly abandoned for years thanks to the rebuilding of the Old Ward Road. While people occasionally come through it on their way to the mountain roads, or to the southern highway, it’s pass-on-by country. There are some farmers still holding on out in the countryside, and a few small businesses along the main street, but the vast swaths of countryside that once supported huge herds of animals is practically bare of life but for the occasional milk cow or small herd of goats.
Down a long, dirt path at the far end of town sits the Slaughterhouse Inn. Named for its former purpose, the place is the only inn for two dozen miles in any direction. A blocky, ugly affair with a pair of large double doors, and an impressive auroch skull nailed over them, it’s one of the biggest structures in town. With its narrow, slitted windows, though, it looks more like a prison than an inn… but with thunder rolling over the mountains and the smell of more than just a little rain in the air, it’s also the most secure shelter one is likely to find to wait out the weather.
The party, for one reason or another, all find themselves at the Slaughterhouse Inn. They could be comrades-in-arms, traveling companions who met on the road or even strangers to one another who all happen to be in the same place at the same time. However, all of them should have a reason as to why they’re staying at the inn.
