100 Random Mercenary Companies

100 Random Mercenary CompaniesNations may not always have enough of a standing army to fight a lengthy campaign, or they may need specialised skills that their regular soldiers lack. This can result in them needing to hire a mercenary company.

Characters may encounter these companies at some point. They may be friends or foes, or they may need hiring or joining.

This is a list of 100 different mercenary companies. Each company has its name given, as well as a brief overview of the company’s skills or behaviour.

To use the list, either roll d100 for a random company or select appropriate ones manually.

Here are some sample companies:

33. Dragon’s Breath Dragoons: Those born of the dragon often inherit strange gifts, and they will always find themselves welcome among the Dragoons. Sorcerers, disciples of draconic teachings and even those who can tap into hidden heritages to walk through fire or imbue their weapons with the raw elements of their sires make the Dragoons a force to be reckoned with.
34. The Gray Fox Brigade: Led by the former general Arnault “The Gray Fox” Smythe, the Brigade is famed for being able to fight anywhere, at any time. Whether it’s an ambush in the depth of
winter snows, or disappearing into the sweltering dunes, the Brigade uses every available advantage the terrain offers to set up stunning maneuvers that many would have considered impossible at best, and suicide at worst.
35. The Glass Hammers: Most warriors draw steel on the field, but the Hammers wield weapons made of strange crystals that are nearly as strong. As unique as the weapons they wield, their fighting style combines brutal efficiency with the grace of cut diamonds, making them a force that’s oft in-demand.

Reviews for 100 Random Mercenary Companies

“I liked it. Short enough to be readable, varied enough to be interesting.”
